Planning a weekend getaway in Eden Utah? Whether it’s a romantic weekend, a fun couple of days with the kids, or you are new to the area and want to explore, here’s a great weekend itinerary for exploring and discovering beautiful Eden Utah.

Best place to stay

Before you head out on your adventure you’ll probably need some place to stay. There are amazing air B&Bs throughout Eden or neighboring Huntsville. Check out the beautiful Compass Rose Lodge, ranked one of the best places to stay in the area. Explore the teepees, gather around the fire, and enjoy the ranch-style ambiance of the Rose Lodge.

Edelweiss Bed & Breakfast or Snowberry Inn are two great B&Bs in Eden. Both offer a unique mountain getaway nestled in the trees with beautiful surrounding views and gorgeous sunsets.

If you still have some time to spare on your first day, check out North Fork Park. Regardless of the time of year, you can find fantastic winter activities and summer activities from mountain biking and horseback riding, to hiking, snowshoeing, sledding, and skiing. There are several trailheads throughout the park so start planning your day adventure here. But when night rolls around you'll have to check out North Fork Dark Sky Coalition.

This is a collection of local businesses, volunteers, civic, and community groups that have banded together to protect the night sky. How, you say? If you love seeing as many stars as possible, you'll understand why. Over-polluting the night sky with lights makes it difficult to enjoy what nature has really given us. Light pollution can be a big thing, especially in major cities. It can inhibit the ability to see the stars at night due to excessive, misdirected, unshielded, or unnecessary use of artificial outdoor lights. I applaud this company's unique efforts to keep our sky unpolluted so that we truly can enjoy some of the most majestic skies at night anywhere in the world.

Day 2 - Ready for an Adventure?

Again, it depends on what time of year you're visiting. If snow is not blanketing the ground, check out Powder Mountain in the morning and The Paper Airplane hiking trail. The Brim Trail is an awesome bike ride for beginner to intermediate riders.

If it's wintertime, Powder Mountain has plenty of adventures to keep you busy. Grab some coffee and breakfast at the Timberline Café or to go eat at Hidden Lake Cantina. Spend the morning learning the slopes at the Snow Sports School, or head out on your own adventure with over 1200 acres of accessible slopes to play in. Skiing not your thing? Check out the unguided snowcat rides to the top of the Lighting Ridge and Raintree.

If you haven't spent the whole day up there,  come back down to Eden and enjoy lunch at Mad Moose. This local café makes great Panini's, burgers and some of the most delicious coffee in the area.

If it's summer, you can then spend the afternoon at Pineview Reservoir, playing on the beaches, paddle boarding, swimming, boating or biking around the reservoir on the Pineview Loop trail.  Club Rec rents ATVs, watercraft and paddleboards, inflatables and boats. They also rent snowmobiles in the winter.

Day 3 - Explore

If you're not completely tired after your last day exploring and having adventures all over the mountain, check out the Snow basin Scenic Gondola Rides. Head up the Needles Gondola for a one-of-a-kind view of the mountain. You can also take a scenic chair lift ride to John Paul Lodge. From there, foot passengers can ride the Allen Peak Train to the top of the mountain for the most amazing and expansive views of Ogden Valley.

In the summertime, the gondola runs every Saturday and Sunday for guests to enjoy a greener view of the valley and of course, once you're at the top, enjoy a delicious lunch at Needles Lodge or if it's Sunday, your own Mountain Top Brunch. But, there are quite a few mountain eats including the Snow Basin Cinnabar Lounge, the Snow Basin Strawberry Café, and the beautiful banquet room. You might even catch a live, local band playing tunes on Sunday. Head up early and catch the Sunrise Yoga class.
